Forgiveness Quotes from the Bible

You may have heard the phrase many times when someone urges you to forgive. Since the beginning of time, man has been told that Lord is our father who is truly merciful and given to purge his creations of the sinful scars in their souls.

Man can mirror this quality of God to become more forgiving and quit keeping grudges against fellow beings, therefore resembling his creator more closely. Forgiveness sets not only the forgiveness seeker free but also saves the forgiver further heartburn and grief, for you no more keep holding on to the instance that caused you so much heartache and pain.

You move on in life and allow time to heal all your sores. The moment you forgive, you stop dwelling in the past and usher in new and warmer experiences. Besides, the feeling that you are facilitating another person to live guilt freely, after he has repented for all his mistakes, by a single act of showing mercy is a great feeling.

You can start your life afresh with forgiveness. Luke and Matthew urged us to learn the lesson of showing clemency through the Pater Noster or the 'Lord's Prayer' and so does numerous other Biblical passages and quotations dealing with forgiveness.

The Holy Bible has always spoken of attaining deliverance through spiritual growth. One can ponder on the following forgiveness quotes from the Bible to soothe an aching soul that seeks enbalming salvation.

"Then came Peter to him, and said, "Lord, how oft shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? Till seven times?"
Jesus saith unto him, "I say not unto thee, Until seven times: but, Until seventy times seven." " ~ Matthew 18:21, 22.

When Peter came to Jesus, who was teaching residents of Capernaum to ask him how many times a sinner should be forgiven. Jesus urged one of his chief disciples to show grace as many times possible. In our ability to refrain from succumbing to anger and the desires to avenge, lies our strength. That is what makes us patient and helps us give up cowardice.

Why must you forgive? According to Matthew 6:14-15 the answer is simple...
"For if you forgive men when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive men their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins."

And the reward to the one who forgives shall be the ultimate deliverance of the human soul...

Do not judge, and you will not be judged. Do not condemn, and you will not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven. Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you." ~ Luke 6:37-38.

One has to realize that every human soul carries the burden of sinning, no matter how big or small, sins that were knowingly or unknowingly committed...
"All have sinned, and come short of the glory of God" ~ Romans 3:23.

"If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us." ~ 1 John 1:8.

And so all of us need to be forgiven and for that we need to show mercy ourselves. For God rebukes and punishes the unmerciful...

...In anger his master turned him over to the jailers to be tortured, until he should pay back all he owed. This is how my heavenly Father will treat each of you unless you forgive your brother from your heart." ~ Matthew 18:28-35.

The Lord believes that repentance for past sins is the only way which can result in the redemption of the individual.
"Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out." ~ Acts 3:19.

For as Daniel 9:9 says...
"The LORD our God is merciful and forgiving, even though we have rebelled against him..."

So, one should imitate the ways of Lord as it is the best example to follow... to shed the petty behind and embrace the new and absolved...
"So watch yourselves. If your brother sins, rebuke him, and if he repents, forgive him. If he sins against you seven times in a day, and seven times comes back to you and says, "I repent", forgive him." ~ Luke 17:3-4.

"Bear with each other and forgive whatever grievances you may have against one another. Forgive as the LORD forgave you. " ~ Colossians 3:13.

Understand that when a soul chooses to confess the crimes of his past he has already began his journey of repentance... His journey begun from the very moment when realization dawned on him...
"Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective." ~ James 5:16.

Forgiveness is something that should come naturally to all humans for as a lot of Bible verses exemplify, the Lord has forgiven us humans for treading on the abysmal depths of evil innumerable times...
