What Does the Bible Say About Mercy?

God is merciful. We see that in everything around us and in His Word as well. The Bible describes this characteristic of His and also advises us to act the same, by showing mercy to others.
"Blessed are the merciful, for they shall obtain mercy."
-Matthew 5:7.


"Therefore when you do merciful deeds, don't sound a trumpet before yourself, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may get glory from men. Most certainly I tell you, they have received their reward."
-Matthew 6:2.
"But when you do merciful deeds, don't let your left hand know what your right hand does, so that your merciful deeds may be in secret, then your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly."
- Matthew 6:3.

"Therefore be merciful, even as your Father is also merciful." 
-Luke 6:36.
"Therefore he (Jesus Christ) was obligated in all things to be made like his brothers, that he might become a merciful and faithful high priest in things pertaining to God, to make atonement for the sins of the people."
- Hebrews 2:17.

Don't hesitate to ask God's mercy! He is still the same God to this day and He will bestow it upon you if you sincerely ask Him! Be merciful yourself because He is being merciful to you too!
