Medha Godbole
If you are keen on understanding how to become an ordained minister, then this things might be the epiphany you are looking for! Read on for more...
Ordained ministers are involved in preaching. They preach sermons at churches on Sunday mornings or other days throughout the week, as per the actual church and the denomination. This is what they do traditionally.
Sometimes these ordained ministers also do Christian marriage counseling. Those who are at a higher level are supposed to check on the training of others wanting to hold positions in the church.
Another crucial task of ordained ministers is to visit the sick and elderly. Simply put, people look up to these people to give them guidance and answers to life's unanswered questions through the Holy Bible, theology and so on.

Becoming an Ordained Minister

To begin with, before you take the decision to become an ordained minister, speak to someone who has been there, done that. Get an idea about how things work, the responsibilities, and the likes. Then take the final decision. Once you take the decision you cannot back off, so make sure you really mean it in the first place.

Step 2

You will have to start with the discernment process. This process will require you to meet your pastor, and this process takes a considerable time. Once the call to a person's priesthood is confirmed and the discernment is done, he will need to enroll in an Episcopal divinity program in an Episcopal theological summary.
The person then will have to appear for the General Ordination examination, but not before he has completed a minimum of two and a half years of the Master of Divinity degree. The candidates who are successful are then ordained by the Episcopal bishop. Eventually after this the individual will get the license.
Other than this, you can now also become a minister online, a la Joey Tribbiani!

Online Method

Go through an organization that performs online ordinations. Thus, you can be ordained as a non-denominational minister. There are churches with their own website offering ordination online, providing information of costs.
All you will have to do is fill up a form online. Once the information and credentials are verified, you will receive a certificate of ordination.
If, after reading all this, you are still wondering how long the whole process takes, let me tell you that you will need to be patient. Due to the spiritual importance of the position, the process can be very time-consuming. In addition to all this, you will have to check out the concerned codes about getting ordained in your state. Good luck!
