Formation of the Oriental Orthodox Church
The Council of Chalcedon promoted the idea that Jesus is in two natures―divine and human. To Pope Dioscorus the Great, the Patriarch of Alexandria, and 13 Egyptian Bishops, this was no different than accepting the teachings of Nestorius. They were strongly opposed to describing God to be 'in two natures', and instead accepted 'of or from two natures'.
