Scriptures on Faith

Marlene Alphonse
In times of trouble it is very easy to lose faith and hope. In such times, one must remember that God is always there for us. Read this story about scriptures on faith and feel the presence of God in your lives.
The Bible has many scriptures that are replete with instances based on trust. The two scriptures that struck a chord deep within me and strengthened my faith in God are:
Matthew 17:19-20: "Then the disciples came to Jesus privately and said, 'Why could we not cast it out?' He said to them, 'Because of your little faith. For truly I tell you, if you have faith the size of a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there,' and it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you."
Luke 17:5-6: "The apostles said to the Lord, 'Increase our faith!' The Lord replied. 'If you had faith the size of a mustard seed, you could say to this mulberry tree, 'Be uprooted and planted in the sea,' and it would obey you."
The scriptures in the Holy Bible are full of illustrations of people's faith in God. God is equally true and keeps His promise. Nothing is impossible for God, like in Genesis 21 God declares to Abraham, through his messengers, that he will have a son despite his old age, and this comes true and in his 100th year, Abraham gets an heir. It is all a matter of faith and trust in God. One must believe in the word of God and have faith that whatever he wishes for will come true.

Biblical Scriptures on Faith

Following are some verses taken from the Old and New Testament of the Bible which may help you in increasing your hope and faith.
Fear not, for I am with you. Do not be dismayed. I am your God. I will strengthen you; I will help you; I will uphold you with My victorious right hand. ~ Isaiah 41:10

I will climb my watchtower now, and wait to see what answer God will give to my complaint. But these things I plan won't happen right away. They will not be overdue a single day! ~ Habakkuk 2:1-3
Dear brothers, is your life full of difficulties and temptations? Then be happy, for when the way is rough, your patience has a chance to grow. For when your patience is finally in full bloom, then you will be ready for anything; strong in character, full and complete. ~ James 1:2-4
We are saved by trusting. And trusting means looking forward to getting something we don't yet have - for a man who already has something doesn't need to hope and trust that he will get it. Verses on Faith and Hope

Hope and faith come from listening to the word of God. These quotes on strength and faith lead us to the path of salvation as promised by God, the Almighty Father.
Do not be yoked together with unbelievers. For what do righteousness and wickedness have in common? Or what fellowship can light have with darkness? What harmony is there between Christ and Belial? What does a believer have in common with an unbeliever? What agreement is there between the temple of God and idols?
For we are the temple of the living God. As God has said: "I will live with them and walk among them, and I will be their God, and they will be my people."
"Therefore come out from them and be separate, says the Lord. Touch no unclean thing, and I will receive you." "I will be a Father to you, and you will be my sons and daughters, says the Lord Almighty." ~ 2 Corinthians 6:14-18
Grace and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord, as His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue, by which have been given to us exceedingly great and precious promises, that through these you may be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust. ~ 2 Peter 1:2-4

Scriptures on Faith and Trust

Where there is trust, you will also find faith. God never lets down those who trust in Him. Following are a few scriptures about the trust put in the Lord.
You believe that God is one. You do well. The demons also believe, and shudder. But do you want to know, vain man, that faith apart from works is dead? Wasn't Abraham our father justified by works, in that he offered up Isaac his son on the altar?
You see that faith worked with his works, and by works faith was perfected; and the Scripture was fulfilled which says, "Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him as righteousness;" and he was called the friend of God. You see then that by works, a man is justified, and not only by faith. ~ James 2:19-24
For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world: your faith. ~ I John 5:4
Now faith is assurance of things hoped for, proof of things not seen. ~ Hebrews 11:1
The LORD is near to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit. ~ Psalm 34:18
Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. ~ Philippians 4:6-7
If you declare with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. ~ Romans 10:9
But let all those rejoice who put their trust in You; Let them ever shout for joy, because You defend them; Let those also who love Your name Be joyful in You. For You, O Lord, will bless the righteous; With favor You will surround him as with a shield. ~ Psalms 5:11-12
Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also. ~ John 14.1-3

Surely He hath borne our griefs (Hebrew: sicknesses) and carried our sorrows (Hebrew: pains) yet we did esteem Him stricken, smitten of God and afflicted. But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; the chastisement of our peace was upon Him; and by His stripes we are healed ~ Isaiah 53:4-5

Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil's schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.
Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace.
In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. ~ Ephesians 6:10-17
The next time you feel there is no hope, read these scriptures on faith and get the inner strength and confidence. Have faith in God and the clouds of despair covering your sky will be blown away.
