What Is True, Real Love?

Claudia Miclaus
We all need love, it is the fuel of life after all, but where can we find real love? Is a relationship the answer? Yes... a relationship with God.
All of us need love and long to be loved and cherished, who doesn't? We all like to know we are needed, appreciated and not only tolerated but also wanted in a place or another and what's more, in someone else's life.
We like to be showered with acceptance and come safe in a sincere embrace of some loving arms, knowing that no matter what, we are always welcome there, in those arms.
Yes sounds good but where can we find that in this world? If you have a loving family, a happy marriage, that is a great blessing!
Indeed, you have open arms to receive you anytime but if you look closer, no matter how close someone can be, there will come the moment when you will eventually be disappointed.
Even the one closest and dearest to your soul has the potential to hurt you, it is not difficult to see that as all around marriages break, violence is booming and crime is found in the least expected places.
However, the phrase "I'll always be there for you" is often times a beautiful sentence and that's all. It is after all literally impossible to have someone always there; might be most of the time but always is way too idealistic. Does happiness come IF you meet the right person?
The myth that your happiness can be brought to you by a person will sooner or later prove wrong. You can't have real happiness with someone unless you learn to be happy living with yourself first.
If you are happy alone, you have a great potential to be happy in a relationship too. But how can someone be happy alone?
► It starts by respecting yourself for who you are. You are a human being God decided to create and that is the most important aspect that we often overlook thinking: "well, after all, God created all people, not just me". True, but you are one of the persons He decided to make so, appreciate it! Your uniqueness is of great value in God's eyes!
► When people realize that by making others happy you actually make yourself happy; of course use your discernment especially when comes to love relationships. Never go below the respect line... as you've only got to lose if you do that.
Real love respects the other but also, respect must be earned! The best way is not to demand respect but to earn it through your actions and character, after all, respect is an important pillar of a relationship and it can't be overlooked.
Here is an example of real love... so perfect that it is not of human descent, only God's love is flawless and perfect so here is God's definition of love from 1 Corinthians 13 :
If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal.[...]
[...] If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. If I give all I possess to the poor and surrender my body to the flames, but have not love, I gain nothing.
Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away. For we know in part and we prophesy in part, but when perfection comes, the imperfect disappears.
When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put childish ways behind me. Now we see but a poor reflection as in a mirror; than we shall see face to face. [...]
[...]Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known. And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love."
God's arms is the place to find true love indeed and none is ever disappointed there! His arms are reaching for you too, don't hesitate, grab endless life and real true love!
Jesus said: "Greater LOVE has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends. My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you." (John 15:12-13)
